This is not silicone. You just need only a thin layer between the spoiler and trunk.

When I installed mine I cleaned with alcohol the trunk and also the solven it brought. Also the spoiler I cleaned it with solvent, alcohol and also sand it the inside so the beta link had better grip.
yes I applied just a tiny amount, I used a syringe to apply a then bead along the edge. I was the truck with dish soap to strip any wax, then let it completely dry, I followed that up by wiping it with the beta link solvent. I didn't clean the spoiler with anything prior to apply the beta link, but I did give the area a slight sanding to roughen it up a bit with the sand paper provided in the kit. The main areas that I notice it being loose are on the corners. I tried to clip it, but all the clips I used wouldn't work so I just applied tape and taped it down as tight as I could.
