No one knows unless someone goes deep into numbers. Also consider that BMW might want to remove a variant in the same series (3er, 4er) and force you into something like a X1 or X3 where the sales will be significantly more. Add that BMW split the cost of the Z4 with Toyota and by having a roadster just to have in the line up, all these things likely contributed and likely not whether a 3er wagon would outsell a Z4 (probably would).
