I just cannot and would not justify buying tires living in California, Oregon, and Washington. Again the Winters were pretty weak, regardless. Have any of you cats lived in Barrow or Nome AK? That gets pretty bad.

Clearly you haven't lived above the 500 ft line in Portland. Higher up in the hills you get snow, ice and generally slick conditions frequently when those under 500 ft are getting rain. And when it snows, even just an 1", the hills can be treacherous.
