I'll tweak my conclusion.
But the main point of my thread was to
show the data that oil analysis can miss bearing failure. Your post whilst interesting & useful (so I'll add it here), didn't show that.
Btw, would be useful to know what's your background to knowing this about oil analysis?
Which wear modes produce particles too big for ICP?

, and could well be, but without stacks of people showing oil reports from early on, we probably won't know for certain.
