BMW don't any sleep over the Australian market. Their main concern is the US market and they will bend-over-backwards to keep them happy.
Harass your sales rep. After all, you're the customer and paying them big $$$. Having said that, ordering and buying the car is the car is the honeymoon, and it's the marriage (ownership and maintenance) that needs to work for you. So start building the relationship with the sales reps and others within the dealership. Even if you screw up they will help.
I have a very good relationship with the dealership and BMW Australia.
