Driveshaft hitting heat shield?

I have a 2011 M3, 10k miles on the clock. I went to the dealer with an issue where I was hearing a loud metallic rubbing noise coming from the drivetrain. It was happening at low speed (under 30) and coming from the middle of the car.

Of course the dealer had never seen or heard of this issue before. They kept the car and later diagnosed the issue as "the driveshaft is rotating too close to a heat shield and making contact". They reshaped the heat shield and the problem is gone.

My question - the car was fine until now, I doubt the heat shield moved on its own, and i don't know how the drive shaft could have moved closer to the heat shield, unless clearance is really tight by design and change in weather and/or normal drivechain settling is the culprit. Should I have them look into the issue some more or just leave it alone?
