Mixing does not work as some people think, where you mix 0W40 and 10W40 and magically get 5W40.
Those two oil I mentioned as an example will have different base stock, and molecules are basically work independent of each other.
Redline is bit different. All Redline performance oils have same base stock, so mixing them might give certain desirable weight.
As for API, API requires oil to be "safely" mixed. That does not mean performance will be increased. It just means engine will not suffer some problem.
And yes, questions is: why? Plenty options to get what one wants from get go.
