my car was doing the same thing. I just completed an oil change myself, and put exactly 8.8 quarts in. It is not leaking underneath
The oil level read full (top dash) for a few minutes, but for the next few days it was reading OK (bottom dash on the oil level meter). I knew the right amount of oil was in there so I didn't do anything. Few days later and voila, measure on nice flat ground and it's staying at top mark full.
