Those look like drill shavings in the filter. Maybe the shop is not telling you the full story. They won’t admit any fault and you can’t prove any. Probably it’s all trapped now unless some is lodged in the pickup screen. I’d probably change the filter again and inspect it. If it looks fine, then try not to worry and enjoy the car since there is nothing you can do.
If those are metal shavings from something else, you are probably in deep trouble and will know very soon. I’d say that is unlikely. Again, nothing you could do other than take everything apart to inspect - a lot of labor that I think is most likely not necessary.
