It's been a few months since your post, but I hope things turned out well for you.

STRONGLY suggest an Escort 9500ci, which has radar detection as well as LIDAR (laser) detection and jamming. I have one in my 2011 E92 M3, and I can attest that it works well. Someone suggested that you have a second to slow down if you are hit with laser - I do not think that is accurate. LIDAR locks on quickly if they get a strong hit on your car (headlights are the primary target for the front, license plate for the rear). I generally stay within 10 mph of the speed limit, but on I-5 I've been known to go faster if the traffic is light. Have been hit by laser going 20+ mph over, and just get "the look" from the trooper trying to clock me as I pass by.
