I think BBS is playing it very conservative there. I've run 9.5" et19 up front with a 275mm tire lowered on KW Clubsports and had ample clearance. Thus, 19 x 9.5" et40 with a 10mm spacer (effective et30) would clear with absolutely zero issues. In fact, the only issue might be inner clearance, depending on the suspension being used (i.e., if KW, you will probably need a more aggressive spacer).
