Wish I could say mate. I have very little practical experience from the system but trying to learn since mine is acting weird.

Pulling one damper (connector) will give you a general "EDC fault" message in the iDrive soon as you start. Hence as you're message specifically stated rear damper (or was the scanned code only that told you?), I'm tempted to say it can't be a simple wire issue. No idea what the damper base an individual code, on which seems to be the case here.

Should I continue to guess, it seems strange if it is the module, would have thought you'd get a general error in that case (also the module have only two output drive stages, one per front/rear. So again if you get a message for ONE of the rears, it wouldn't make sense).

EDIT: One more thing you could test that may tell you a bit more about whether the module is gone or not; Some faults for instance sensors, apparently set the module in "half stiff" i.e. fixed output current regardless of mode somewhere between 1-2amps. This is fairly easy to measure hooking up a amp meter on one of the front connectors. Again, if you unplug a damper the module will turn off to 0 current (and generate "EDC failure"). I'm not sure how the module react to a plugged in but broken damper.
For further background here's a video I've done during my own fault tracking. As you can see its 0 current while stand still, to after a few mph start up, with 2A in comfort, 1.6A i Normal and 0.8A in Sport.
