Just wanted to re-visit this thread with an update. I ended up buying a cpo WRX STI as a daily/commuter car that satisfies my needs (for fun and practicality, I couldn't buy something boring) as my commute went from 15 minutes of local roads to about an hour of highway driving. But.... I still looked every now and then at the M3 market and wasn't impressed with the local market. It also appears to me that it seems like the market might be hitting a price floor: if you want a 2011 or newer, with relatively lower miles, and taken care of/not beat up on, you're going to have to shell out (on average) $30K, often times more.

I'm now at the point that I'm going to continue saving up all while looking at what's out there, but, it is certainly disappointing to see how rare a clean, lower mileage M3 is (especially if you're picky like me and want a stock E92, 6MT, CF slicktop, among other options) without shelling out $32K. Not surprising, just disappointing.
