I see where you are going with the conversion Chewy, desaturate the green and convert? The only other thing I would do, like Dave mentioned would be to increase the black level and possibly the contrast also.
I did shoot a bracketed batch of ~6 steps for a possible HDR attempt but I will have to leave that to another computer and probably my son whos PS skills far surpass that of mine.
I think it might be some compression but that photo sure looks soft here. I rented a 16-35 and had to try it on something.
