It's pretty straight forward.

On the back of the CIC unit:

Unplug the LVDS cable from the back of the CIC unit, connect it to the module
The unpluged cable from the car, plug that into the module
On the idrive controller, unplug the harness and plug the harness to the module and plug module harness inline with the idrive controller. AUX 3.5mm is routed to the center console, and the cable with the USB port if you want wired and updates can be routed to wherever you want, I left mine in the glovebox using the fusebox cover area. The external mic, I routed up the passenger A pillar to the maplight panel where the factory mic is. The panel can hold a mic for both LHD and RHD so I just moved the factory mic over to the passenger side and placed the external mic over there.

Operation:
Set a preset on the CIC presets to select AUX
Hold the Menu button on the idrive controller to switch over the Apple Carplay
I think its either hold down the idrive controller or option button to enable Siri.
Steering wheel skip tracks buttons work but unfortunately the CIC skip tracks for some reason.

It's amazing to see a super widescreen Google maps on the CIC screen
