Mike Miller is a BMW mechanic. He works on BMW's and has developed a reputation for servicing vehicles his own way, and it's played out to result in lots of good miles. People refer to his maintenance style as "Old School" and he now writes for Roundel (BMWCCA Magazine).
You don't have to care, rest assured. You should do what you think is best for your own car.
I agree with you on the 60k mile interval for the plugs, and not sure where the 10k DCT flush interval came from but I wouldn't do that for my car either.
