Also, a one rep bench isn't really used anymore, except in competitions specifically looking at one rep max. A more realistic stat is number of reps with a given weght, which tests power, a more realistic "strength". The NFL looks at how many times you can bench 225lbs. A couple years back some guy from Ohio State set the record with 43 or 47 reps (I forget), but most of the big guys are in the mid to upper 20's, and the little quick shits are down in the high teens and low 20's.
Well there is strength and there is power. Max is still used to gauge power for powerlifting.
