BMW has been sitting in on the WEC hypercar rules talks that have been going on with most of the major manufacturers and the organizing committee. Maybe this new car is going to be developed for the new 2021 regulations which includes hybrid powerplants.
Some of the renderings posted previously look similar to what is being suggested for the new WEC category.
