Just to confirm - you tried to go in to your phones bluetooth profile in iDrive and make sure that Audio is selected?
I have a 2011 as well and bluetooth streaming works great for me and my iPX. Plugging the phone into the USB in the armrest works for too however as the other member mentioned, I did have to manually re-enable bluetooth audio after I did that.
