Correct.

The S65 holds 9.3 Quarts or 8.8 Litres of oil at max operating capacity.

When your oil shows at the top of the range (max line) in the iDrive, you can assume you have max oil and should definitely not add anymore. When you are at the bottom of the range line (min line) you are in essence down one quart/litre or so and it's probably ok to add the full bottle. You can get see red if you go too long on the minimum line and it will go from saying "add one qt of oil" to "add one qt of oil immediately" or something like that.

If you're above the minimum line you should add oil in increments and drive around and let it register a real reading for capacity. For as hyper sensitive as the sensor is designed to be, I sometimes feel like it's sending a me a 3 week old telegram of how much oil I had in my tank back in Q4 2014.
