Thanks johndong, I also found out that there are 2 types of comboxes, media & telematik. telematics one can retain assist but you have to get the dealer to move the ESN over for you and that costs a lot and they might not even do it.
I've found that assist just isn't worth all the hassle and the $190/year. the connected drive features outweigh the loss of my unused assist subscription.
