Great looking car, and a great way to go down to pick it up. Many, many years ago, I was a flight student in St. Louis racking up hours in a Cessna 150s and 172s. My instructor and I flew my dual cross country trip from STL to St. Joseph, MO, where I looked at a 1971 Porsche 911E that I was interested in. The owner met me at the airfield, and my instructor (a former top fuel drag racer) and I checked the car out. Decided to pass on it--it was a non-stock repaint and the price of $8100 was too high--and flew home. Definitely a fun way to spend the day.

Later that week the guy called up and offered it for $7500, but I had already bought another car--a 1976 targa for $13,000. Wish I had both of those cars today.
