Update to this thread. I got the baseplate today, connected that and the new blue cable from the baseplate to the combox. Sadly still no option in the External Devices menu for the iPhone, looks like coding is required after all as I'm pretty sure that all is now complete hardware wise. When I plug the combox cable in, the phone power goes off and on, pretty sure this is the combox recongising the new connection, but then the lack of code stopping it from going further. Local BMW indy is going to look at it this afternoon and the the code in, think it's 6NL for £40 + VAT. Seems reasonable after spending £265 getting the new baseplate, snap in cradle and baseplate!
