Had same exact symptoms. Eventually it will take more tries to start and then will not start at all. It’s the starter starting to fail. The clicking noise is actually the gear that pops out and engages the flywheel, but the starter motor is too weak to turn the flywheel. Replace your starter and it should be fixed.
