The v1 has fine grain novillo leather, cleaner lines with displays inset into the leather, a more classic elegant look, and it's LED's match the dash better being the same orange color as opposed to a random collection of white yellow and green LED's on the v2.
The v1 is also in no way outdated technology any more than the black iPhone 4S was outdated when the white iPhone 4S came out and I've seen most people say that they preffer the v1 design.
Either way I lowered the price from $1,700 which was MSRP of the wheel and trim to $1290 which is equivalent to the GetBMWParts.com price of the wheel and the alcantera trim, so now it's not a matter of paying a preimum, it's a matter of taste.
