Kufatec has a harness that could be modified for this BMW application already made for VW (they share the same connector; 12V/ground and CAN wires junction made for accessories).
Just transfer the optic cables and the mini connectors to this new harness and that's it. I think that a typical BMW owner interested in this mod can pay up to ~ $50 (including the labor in creating the harness and with a nice profit) extra for a much better installation procedure with this device... and still keep the OEM wires unmolested and uncut...  |
Being a gateway-based system, this is necessary. We can utilize a Plug and Play harness, but obviously - this will increase the cost of the system. If this is something people are actively searching for - there is a possibility of adding it in the near future as an available option.
Metra harness ends do not have the correct provisions. For those with simple DIY skills, I don't see the current solution as a problem.
