I am at the point of deciding whether to use the 5mm spacer, try a 12.5mm spacer and see if that works with my alignment and outer clearance or go a spring swap (as in Slicers' thread regarding clearance issues).

Peace of mind would be the only reason. 12.5mm will be too big, and require A LOT of camber.
Since you don't have the coils installed already, i'd recommend the spring swap when you get them!
