Just did this. Got my replacement parts from Turner as even after FX and duties/taxes, it was significantly cheaper than BMW Canada parts department.
I also wondered if this actually needed to be done as the error would solve itself after turning the car on or off multiple times. However - with each day, it got worse and worse and since the repair, it's been perfect.
