Some more lessons learned...
Before you buy the pressure filter, make SURE it comes with the O-ring, lid, and circlip. I bought a VAICO and it just had the o-ring. You could use it but there is a chance the circlip or lid will get screwed up. Then you're in a world of hurt because I can't find the lid or circlip separately. Just buy the genuine BMW kit.
You also need a good circlip plier. I bought this from Amazon and it worked amazing...
