I believe the flow matters when it comes to the life of the MPE. the more travel air allowed to travel freely apparently cracks the back wall of the MPE, hence why two cracks appear. Guys use the stock x-pipe on the MPE. but if you touch the Primary cats you have a bigger risk for cracks.
That could very well be an explaination!
