Well, BMW knows a little bit about 4 cylinder turbo motors. See here:

Nothing like that will ever make it to a production car. But it doesn't have to. We can look at the S85 V10 and S65 V8 to see how BMW applies their motorsport technology to street engines. So, perhaps BMW's turbo four will be 2.0L+ instead of 1.5L, will only rev to 8000 RPM instead of 11,500, and will only make 400hp instead of almost 1300hp. That's good enough to best the competition, and certainly good enough to find buyers.
