Another good point but I'm sure they had determined they could make money on the car even at the low volume. Or it was subsidized by the racing efforts and the projected money to be made by the brand value those would provide. Either way, they probably just can't make the business case for cars like this today. IIRC, people have recounted here on the forum how the E36 LTW sat on lots for months for example. It doesn't mean there is zero demand for such cars. It just means BMW is probably not confident they know how to bring them to us and make a profit at the same time.
