I am not quite sure why everyone thinks the front is so hard to do, I found the front a lot easier than the rear. I think the reason is that everyone trys to do the fronts without removing the entire strut assembly.

To remove the entire strut assembly there is only one pinch bolt to remove on the spindle which holds the strut in the spindle, then the sway bar link needs to be removed (on the left side the headlight level adjuster arm needs to be removed). After this stuff is removed the whole strut can be removed by taking the three nuts of on the strut towers under the hood. The whole re and re takes about 30 to 40 minutes per side including installing the new springs.

Another plus to doing the install this way is there is less of a chance of damaging the car compared to trying to do it with the strut still attached to the spindle.
