It just seems to me like when the valves are closed, then you are taking quite a hit on pipe diameter compared to stock. Inside the OEM muffler, its 2.5" and then it splits into two 2" tips. I'm not sure what the effective diameter would be on that right pipe pictured, but its got to be less than 2.5".
