There is an electric solenoid that interfaces with the wireless reception box and air reservoir. The valves are operated by vacuum pressure but only do so when the solenoid sends the appropriate signal.

I addressed this in my review as well. I don't think there is any need for them to be adjustable anyway. They are perfect fitment, IMO.

Again, I think you, Ben335 and Swamp have the sounds reversed.
They most definitely aren't the same sound level. The "thin" sound is when the valve is closed.
