the best looking option out there is the GP thunder at full power
all the LEDs out there cost a lot
and every few months we get another "greatest LED out there" and we have to fork out another 200-300
my last attempt at LED is i got a set of RD LEDS and will replace the LEDs with 10W LEDS and see how that works
i think bottom line is our headlight design sucks
and no option out there is going to satisfy what we all want;
strong white even light
so at least the GP thunder at full power option is cheap (about $20 for bulbs and around 20-30 for a relay kit)
and in my opinion, looks the best

GP Thunders, which are nothing more but a tinted bulb - this will not take care of the uneven light on the rings. The AIBs give a whiter light, uniform coverage and produce less heat.
I think you're fighting an uphill battle on modifying the RD pieces, but let's keep the thread on topic here as this is an AiB thread - not RD.
