For all those people who have the erratic engine ticking sound between 1K and 3K after the engine temperature is above 210 degrees F, take it in to your dealer and have it at least documented that you have this issue. I had the issue and drove the car for 3000 miles. Did not seem to affect anything. But I still have not heard resolution on this issue. Sounds like some dealers are less willing to look into the issue than others. But if this is a real issue, we should get to the bottom of it. And that can only be done by having the BMW of NA FSE hear the sound.
