Hello all,

Any updates to our coil dilemma other than purchasing OEM $$$$ ?
I bought a new (used) car last week and the first drive where I actually had time to take it to redline (20 minutes or more into the drive) and limp mode reintroduces itself to me upon one redline. Limped back to the shop I got a PPI at. Initial diagnosis is cylinder 6 misfire/coil pack.
Figured, ok just get new coils from eldor and start over with fresh coils. This is where I see they only sell to bmw and they in turn sell to us poor souls who pay ridiculous prices for these.

After reading this whole thread, seems I should just buy 1 or 2 and be on my merry way instead of plopping down $2k+ for 8.

Or

I do have 3-4 old ones (from my ‘09 M3) that were fine when I replaced the whole set with new ones 3-4 years ago. Should I just use one of those and the rest when needed? They’ve been in a sealed plastic bag for the last few years. Or did coils change over the years and they wouldn’t be a good mix/match?

Appreciate the help.
