Figured out the secondary air pump removal thanks to this guy:

So the way is to find and disconnect the electrical connector that T's off the hose that attaches to the back of the air pump. It connects from the bottom and is a short distance away as the hose goes close to the strut tower brace. With this disconnected, the air pump can then rotate toward the passenger side, pulled away from behind the bracket and be placed on top the wiring harness in the V. With the pump moved from its spot, there's now room to use both hands to disconnect the electrical connector for the air pump.
