You just acknowledged BMW is using an electric car term differently than its common application and definition. BMW’s description is misleading.
There is no regeneration from the braking itself. Rather there is generation from allowing the alternator to couple during deceleration, coasting and braking. Braking is not creating any more electricity in this charging scenario than coasting or decelerating. Under your view, BMW should describe alternator engagement during coasting and deceleration the same way — regenerative coasting and regenerative deceleration.
