So came across this video and found it bit alarming but then did some research and found some that say this is just "doom and gloom" rhetoric. Obviously all mechanical and electrical components can and may fail at some point, how legit is this claim that BMW designed these ECU's with a life span in mind?
As these cars age, I'm sure finding a flashed ECU is already getting challenging, but will it become impossible or astronomically expensive in next few years? I'm the original owner on my '08 and still running strong but I know that day might come, hopefully not sooner than later.
Thoughts?

Stop being paranoid just enjoy your car if it has no issues with ecu, this is just a toy to enjoy, if it breaks fix or replace
