Believe it or not (I used to love that show and adore the museums) they have figured out to do it now. I just got my 2WNR revalved for 700f 1000r shocks. Cost is about $360. They didn't bring it up when I started the process, luckily I am friends with Patrick at Bimmerworld and he told me about it and got me connected to the right people.

Haven't had the ability to test yet as there is a giant hole in my engine bay currently but will be here this spring if all goes to plan.
