Porsche guys have been dealing with Alusil for the longest time. They seem to know what’s up.
The problem is there seems to be so much conflicting information. For Alusil in general, some claim that the finish is too smooth after long use and new rings won't seal without re-etching. Others claim it's not a problem and you can throw new rings in and drive away. Dean has some very valid points about cylinder geometry too. Though that I can at least measure.

I don't want to gamble $10k on it unless I have no reasonable choice.
