Oil quality is defined as how much
moisture is measured in the oil--not which brand/formulation. This is why temperature is important in the measurement of the oil as to evaporate any moisture in the oil by means of exceeding boiling temp. TIS also warns about short-trip driving as this would be a detriment to quality by means of excessive moisture in the oil.
As per OP problem, TIS does note "spurious oil-level warning" when the permittivity of the oil is compromised. This makes me think at certain conditions a fault code should be recorded. I'd be curious what INPA or ISTA might have for this. Maybe it could help shed some light on the problem as others have suggested. Keep us posted, OP?
