Towing with an X5 is possible but you will be limited on trailer weight and how much stuff you can take with (tools, wheels, extra people).

I would do the math on your car and trailer exact weight and then look at the X5's capacity. Do not just look at the max tow rating. I almost bought an X5M but realized it would be right at the limit of things and wasn't comfortable with that.
