The goal is more to prevent the diff from being able to rotate more than just adding rigidity.
The 4th mounting point can greatly reduce movement in the diff without having to go with solid mounts which add a lot of NVH.
It will also eliminate movement even more than the solid mounts alone. Kits like the DEFIV which I think is discontinued included both solid mounts and the 4th mount point.
