Leather dye transfer is essentially a non-issue with black seats. (I had Coffee merino leather in my G05 X5.). That said, a coated leather surface is MUCH easier to clean and restore to its original matte finish. It's remarkable how quickly dark seats become shiny with repeated ingress/egress or (in summertime) with body oils. That was the 'tell' for me, for when my dark brown seats were due for cleaning: the driver's seat had a sheen the other (unused) seats didn't. Any of my leather or interior cleaners would restore the finish to its original luster in one quick step.
