I did meet a guy on track with true rear coilovers without reinforcing it on a E92 with aero and had no issues. I might have it reinforced just in case while cage is welded in because why not. I plan on driving the car really hard as well.

My E90 M3 is a track-only car. Most would agree it's not driven gently.
November 2020 we put MCS 3-way full coilovers on the car. The car is caged, gutted, full aero, supercharged, runs slicks all the time, but the rear shock mounting is not reinforced. Been fine so far, including a few solid off-track excursions. Sometimes I wonder if I missed my calling as a landscaper.....
