This is just a CYA statement because they don't want you calling back up to complain about shitty brake performance. I have seen some pad companies explicitly state that due to similar compounds used in race and street pads, you can swap back and forth without major issues.

It isn't ideal, but with proper bed-in and maybe even a Flex-Hone tool, you should be fine.
