No they still have problems in the later years. They did change the material and they have a slight increase but not enough to fix the problem. However the rod bearing don't really have a problem if the car was properly warmed up before pushing the motor. Being used the only way to find out is a black stone analysis and I've heard those don't work on the later years since they changed the material that was used but not 💯 on that
The original rod bearings (088/089) were manufactured from 2007 with several layers, including copper and lead. BMW released an updated rod bearing (702/703) around mid 2010 manufactured from tin & aluminium, coupled with a slight increase in bearing clearance value.
